A civila servants sabre and a scabbard. Blade length 81cm., width at bolster 2cm.

, length with grip 96cm., length in scabbard 97cm. A 4-sided double-edged steel blade, lenticular at bolster, with two fuller. Half-rubbed maker"s mark at bolster. Cast brass ferrule decorated with imperial eagle in rocaille cartouche, quillon and shaped pommel decorated with rocaille pattern. Bees on pommel. Mother-of-pearl grip with brass side fittings. Leather scabbard with brass fittings, split into three parts, needs restoration. France. 2nd half 19th century. The sabre is a fine antique arm of historical importance.
