A gilt porcelain sculpture of Catherine I with overglaze colours, height 25сm.
Base 18.3х21.1сm. Illegible inscription on base. After painting by D.G. Levitsky depicting Catherine the Great as Legislatress in the Temple of the Goddess of Justice. The sculpture repeats the middle of the painting: by burning poppies at the altar, the Empress sacrificied her own precious peace for the peace of all. The eagle sitting on books where laws are recorded ensures law observance. The Empress"s ceremonial dress is supplemented with a patterned chain of the Order of Saint Andrew the First Called to mark the service of Catherine II of the Russian state. The sculpture might have been made by the Imperial Porcelain Works after model by А.К. Spis. Sculptor P.V. Shmakov. Russia, Imperial Porcelain Works, 1860-80s.
