A forged engraved steel, niello silver, ivory, leather, sabre and scabbard.

Length in scabbard 95.5cm.; blade length 77.5cm.; blade width 3.3cm. A steel single-edge blade with two fullers. Mark in the form of eagle on blade, master"s in Cyrillic "OSMAN". Novodel grip, pommel and quillon. Later silver fitting on quillon. The blade was made in Vladikavkaz, scabbard and fittings made by Osman Kaplanov, a silversmith who lived in Kazi-Kumuk village. Russian officers and Cossacks were the main buyers of Dagestan sabres. Among the best silverworks in the Caucasus. Dagestan, laate 19th-early 20th century.
