St.Petersburg:Imperial Academy of Sciences, 1762. 14, 16 unnumbered pages, 176 p. The works of famous Russian satirist of XVIII century Antiokh Kantemir (1708-1744). Firstly "Satires" were published in London in 1749 in French language in translation of abbot Guasko. In Russian the were known only in numerous lists which were handing from hands to hands. Almost 20 years had passed before it was possible to publish "Satires". The preparation work to publishing was made by Russian poet and translator I.Barkov, he was also the author of "Life of the Duke....". In spite the fact that the book had a numerous issue (1400 samples) it is seldom seen especially with a portrait which was enclosed not to every edition" (Consult Smirnov-Sokolsky N. My library. №121). Full leather binding with semi-removed of gold-stamping over spine. Engraved vignettes and headpieces. 25,2х18,2 sm, in satisfactory condition: this sample is without portrait, binding rubbings, the front cover is of the block, 2-nd and 3-d end papers are missing, traces of removed stamps, stains at pages.
