In 1767 invited by Ekatherina II he moved to Russia. In 1768-74 he supervised an expedition of St.Petersburg Academy of Sciences to the central part of Russia, down the Volga region, the lower part of Caspian Sea region, Middle and Southern territory of Urals, Southern Siberia (Altai, Baikal and Transbaikalia). An illustrated edition: 24 engraved folding tables on separate plates. New card binding covered with ornamented paper, with gold-embossed sticker at the spine, coloured end paper. 24,5х18,5 sm, in a good condition: minor stains at pages. The book has a certain historical value.
